It is with great enthusiasm that we share the words of introduction of one of the founders of Almada International School, Professor João Couvaneiro.

“I am immensely proud to bring to light an education project such as the Almada International School. This project is the result of a long journey that culminates in the creation of a space designed with students and families in mind.
I firmly believe that education should be at the service of the full development of students, through the balanced combination of knowledge, skills and attitudes, so that everyone can become, in a harmonious way, fully integrated in a community that is increasingly global, so that they can fulfil themselves as individuals, build their life projects and be happy.
I believe in the use of active methodologies, which translate into the execution of projects, the search for solutions to problems, the development of research and the response to challenges, since they place the students, individually and collectively, at the centre of the learning process.
Since 1996, I have taught in various primary, secondary and higher education establishments. I was Professor Coordinator and Director of the Jean Piaget Higher School of Education. I have collaborated with Universidade Aberta and UniPiaget (Angola). I was also a lecturer at the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon. I am currently a lecturer at Egas Moniz – School of Health and Science, with responsibilities in the area of Pedagogical Innovation and e-Learning.
I have collaborated with numerous educational establishments in the areas of teaching, educational innovation, active pedagogies and integration of technologies in the learning processes. For some of this work I have been recognised as an Apple Distinguished Educator and I was one of the finalists nominated for the world edition of the Global Teacher Prize.
I will always be available for any questions or further clarifications.
Welcome and see you soon.”
